Fig And Olive
It is restaurant week! The first day, I was able to snag a table at Mediterranean joint Fig and Olive on 13th street in the meatpacking district.

And it was a perfect timing too! After my friends and I did the Highline park thingy, the restaurant was located just a bloick away. So with tired feet and hungry tummy, it was jut perfect.

Fig and Olive is getting popular for having most if not, all of their dishes prepared and cooked in virgin olive oil base. So each entree comes as simple as possible, but with taste that will surely be a delicious surprise.

They gave us bread and a trio of Spanish, American and Australian virgin olive oil to start while checking out the drinks and menu.

floor to ceiling wall of wine selection.

White Sangria for me! Gosh, lately I have been thirsty for drinks! Spiked drinks!

I had chicken samosas to start - Organic chicken, cilantro, Greek yogurt, bell pepper, scallion,
Sundried Tomato Olive Oil

And also ordered Crostinis for the group which were VERY VERY good! Combinations of shrimp, crab meat, figs, pesto, prosciutto, etc. Yum! Totally!

For my main entree, I had the Truffle Pollo Di Piemonte - Free range chicken breast, sauteed mushrooms, shallots
Served with roasted garlic, thyme leeks and potato truffle puree.
A bit sad here. My chicken came out sorta dried. As a chicken eater almost everyday, I know when my chicken is done right. It didn't do it for me @ Fig and Olive. But the potato truffle puree was heavenly tasty.
My friends tried:

Grilled filet of Mediterranean branzino, glazed with fig & balsamic vinegar, snow peas & figs

Grilled lamb on rosemary skewers, bell peppers, with Greek yogurt, honey and couscous with figs, red onion, scallion, tomato
For sweets, I totally forgot to take picture of my Chocolate Pot de Creme - Custard & Crunchy Praline Financier coz it was sooo delicious I couldn't stop eating.
Fig And Olive: nice decor, beautiful people, good food. Crostinis definitely a must have....
Would I go back? Sure.
