Day @ The Met

I had the pleasure to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art once again.

Was quite excited to see the Vermeer exhibition that was loaned to MY NEW YORK by the Dutch government. I was particularly interested to see the "Milkmaid" painting that dates back to 1657-58.

Just imagine that! 1657! And I had the honor to still see it in my lifetime. Talk about a looooong time! And it is very very well preserved. Colors and texture are almost perfect!

Since it was forbidden to take a picture of the real one, here's a blown up example......But seeing it in person brings so much experience, knowledge and fun!

People were just amazed and making such great comments about Vermeer, the Dutch painter and his works. Amazing!

Quote: " On the occasion of the four hundredth anniversary of Henry Hudson's historic voyage to Manhattan from Amsterdam, the Rijksmuseum has loaned The Milkmaid, perhaps the most admired painting by Johannes Vermeer (16321675), to the Metropolitan Museum. This special exhibition presents the masterpiece with all five paintings by Vermeer from the Met's collection, along with a select group of works by other Dutch artists, placing Vermeer's superb picture in its historical context."

Of course, after my Vermeer viewing, I went around the museum on my own time and leisure. The great thing of being a member, I do not have to rush what is inside the museum. I have 365 days to plan ahead and see what I wanna see without over loading my head with great artworks.....Plus, I get to enjoy the roof garden and yet to use my Trustee's dining room privilege...I heard it is pretty good food as well!

Here are some pictures during my walking around @ the Met...Enjoy!

The Robert Lehman courtyard soon to be opened and a few artworks from the Lehman collection.

I always come to this part of the museum. I think this is in the European sculpture and decorative arts courtyard.

Full of light and space. Being here gives me a sense of happiness. The clean lines, the light, and the magnifecnt sculptures. The people around it are sooo inspired and just spending their sweet time. Productive!

I have sat in this area for quite some time and just took it all in. I just love the place!

Coincidence?

Posting too many pictures from a museum can be a sensory overload, I will continue it on another posting.

Meanwhile, just take it all in. And if you have a chance, come visit the Met, really a great, huge source of information, history and a lot of art appreciation from past , the present and a look into the future.

Nothing beats like seeing such great artworks dating back in time.....

"If I can turn back time..."

No Cher, you dont have to turn back time. You can actually see it @ the Met. LOL!

BTW, as soon I got home from this day @ the Musuem, I got a letter from the Board of Trustees asking me to urge people and friends to visit the museum. To preserve the practice of enjoying what treasures we have from the past that we get to see them now.

A campaign to all of you

0-sha!
