After work, I decided I'd walk along the East Village. A neighborhood sooo laid back and I was just in the mood for laid back and no frills.

Took the M15 bus from midtown and took it all the way to 7th street and 2nd Avenue. Started walking and took my sweet ole time.

Then I passed by this place called Tarrallucci E Vino.

When I first passed by it, it looked like a cramped place packed with people. And basing from my experience, something like that tells one thing: IT IS A GOOD PLACE!

Then I sorta recognized the name again and remembered reading it from online sometime ago, it is locally chic and trendy cafe in the East Village.

Crowd: East Village beautiful.

Between 10th and 11th streets on 1st Avenue. Or at least somewhere there.

Thought I'd give it a try. Then as I entered the long narrow place, I saw menu of coffee, pastries and other stuff.

They do have wine too! Paninis, salads and such.

Was in the mood for the hot chocolate but they were out. So I tried the "Moka". A cafe mocha of some sort, I guess. Quite deliciously strong. Woke me up fer sure.

As I wanted to try the Pain Au Chocolat, they were out as well. Oh well, I settled for the almond croissant instead.

Found my little spot in the back and plopped down my mini hp and started this. Something to do I guess.

By the time I took a bite of the almond croissant, it took me to Cafe Heaven. It was delicious! Delicious!

The place is really simple looking. NO attitude, lots of character. Impressed actually....

I can actually spend a lot of time here, just like the guy across from me who looks like he's been draining the place's electricity with his mac as he sat there for gawd knows how long.

With my humble and simple mini hp, I am pretty sure I wouldn't last long with my battery just a teeny weeny bit.

But hey, I am writing this right? Moving on.....

Actually on my 2nd cup of Moka and this time, tried this danish pastry with shaved almonds and custard filling.

Guess what? Cafe Heaven, again! =)

If you are ever around the East Village, check out this place. It's an easy place, good selection in the menu and pleasant crowd.

It's that simple.

It Is A Good Thing.

Wow! I didn't know that my boredom would turn out to something productive and meaningful.

A few nights ago, while tidying up my locker at work. I realized how much hangers I have accumulated from my dry cleaning. You know, those wire hangers.

And we normally just throw them out.

So I typed an innocent note and posted it on the locker room wall:

And what a response I got! The next day, I saw a co-worker's laundry bag filled with hangers that will be sent back to the cleaners.

And today, I even saw a bigger plastic bag with a bunch of wire hangers.

It kinda made me feel sooo good. Just a litle note without any expectation and without pushing my co-workers in doing so, they all responded in the kindest gesture by joining me re-cycle the wire hangers.

It is a simple and little step in trying to do our part in conserving and re-cycling.

One little step from me and another little step from you is all we need to make Mother Nature happy.

What little step are you gonna do?

APC And Bedford Avenue

I had to tell my friend about APC's surplus shop in Brooklyn coz he looooves APC.

APC surplus store in Brooklyn. Took the L train and walked several blocks on Grand Street.

Sadly, There wasn't anything both of us liked and didn't buy anything.

Even if it was 65% off! Nada!

But I have planned not to shop anyway so my interest was just to hang out with my friend and check out that part of Brooklyn.

After APC, we decided to check the up and coming neighborhood of Williamsburg. The Bedford Avenue part of it.

Seriously, it was my first time being in that part of Brooklyn and I was impressed! I sorta enjoyed the laidback feel, youth oriented, upcoming vibe of the neighborhood.

It is cool to know that the surrounding areas of Manhattan is getting the much needed break in terms of developments.

Besides, it is getting quite populated (8 million as of now and rising) in Manhattan.

Lots of condos being built and a lot of local shops and businesses. Kinda cute.

NO STARBUCKS! Yet. Sometimes, that is a nice sign. Local coffee shops I kinda like nowadays. It is all about character in this developing hood.

And check this out, as my friend and I decided to try out this tea house. Turned out, the owner is someone that I know!

I tried those tapioca drinks in coconut something something and it was delish! I'd actually go back there for that, again.

I enjoyed Bedford Avenue. I bet it is more fun walking in that part of town in the summer.

Problem tho, I think the L train is the only subway line that will take you directly to Bedford Avenue. So that can be really tricky.

I Just Excercised.....My Right To Suffrage

Today was a BIG day. I got to vote again. This time for Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate and a few others.

It feels sooo good to be able to vote. To hear your stand, just a few clicks of those voting thingies.

I feel powerful. In fact, I am powerful. The vote of ONE.

Now, may all who get elected serve for the better of this great city: MY NEW YORK. May they continue to work with the inspiration from its people.

Public service is a noble thing.

If you have not rock the vote, VOTE VOTE VOTE now!

Remember, if you do not use your right to Suffrage, you cannot complain, ever!

So don't let this day be a waste by not voting......Vote.

Food!

As you know, I seriously love to eat. It is a great thing.

Dig in:

The ex-Florent space in the meatpacking district was replaced by Gansevoort69. They just opened about a month ago so I decided to check it out.

Comfort and easy food.

Decor was confusing. Part modern, part "I wanna save the Florent" look. Mix match.

Crowd: meatpacking foo-foo, trendy and some out of this world few.

Food: OK. Nothing I'd go crazy about. Ok food. It served its purpose.

I enjoyed my mac and cheese tho. Quite nice.

Pear Tini for moi and coffee for my friend. Haha...Really extreme.

And for the Entree, I tried the white chicken with rice. Good.

Next is BIlly's Bakery in Chelsea. Grabbed some delicious chocolate cake with mocha buttercream for my folks' wedding anniversary.

It was quite delish.

And while I waited for the cake, I just had to take a pic of these pumpkin cupcakes that were sooo tempting.

YUM!

Now, this is special. Noodle soup with toppings of stewed sliced pork ( extra pork for moi) and wild veggies. I ordered it in pork broth, salt and roased garlic flavor with thin noodles.

Minca, down in the East Village. It is Ramen heaven.

Delicious.I can't stress enough. Seriousness.

Again, this place is wonderful.

Freshly made pork and shrimp gyoza...MmmmMMmmm.....

Minca is the bomb! Really!

Happy Halloween! - 2009

I've done it many times. Many times.

I wasn't gonna participate in this year's Halloween but at the very last minute, I decided to be part of it again. And a friend wanted to hang out ....So Halloween it was!

Funny coz whenever I do it, by the time I get to the parade, it gives me this satisfaction: "I am so glad I did it!".

It is indeed one night every year where everybody gets fun, creative and wild.

One night where people can let loose and put on costume, be a character and have a fantastic time.

This year, I was a SUPERMODEL! HAHAHAHA.

My inspiration: Louis Vuitton 2010 spring-summer runway show.

Phew! Am I glad for digital camera! Can you just imagine if we still use those film thingies? Have to re-load a buncha films and for sure missing most of the good costumes while re-loading! Digital cam rocks!

So, people were out and about. The rain stopped and everybody had a fun fun fun time!

After the parade, I went to this bar in Hells Kitchen to relax and have more fun time!

Yay! Great Halloween. Last minute plans worked out even better than expected! Hoooray!

Happy Halloween! Don't you just love "Pepe's" (the pumpkin) costume? He is trying not to be noticed he's a pumpkin with the added stache. Hahahaha.....

We named him Pepe and he's even got a song......check it out!

Let us not take it for granted.

Remember that in some far far away places, people sacrifice lives to have democracy.

We have it, let's use it.

The right to suffrage is a great gift.

It molds our community, our future, our nation.

If you choose not to excercise this right, then you can't be complainin if things do not go your way in this great city.

Urban Pumpkin Patch

MY NEW YORKERS can be very very busy at times. It is all about work, work, work and hardly play at all.

And this time around with halloween just around the corner, I am sure people from MY NEW YORK would just like to have a lil break and set in the mood for halloween. It is such a fun event.

And last weekend, I checked it out. A pumpkin patch, in the city!

Figures, if people are too tired and busy to drive all the way to the boondocks, then why not bring the pumpkin patch in MY NEW YORK and call it the URBAN PUMPKIN PATCH!

Cool huh! Anything for the beloved MY NEW YORKERS!

Set up in the middle of Gansevoort St. in the meatpacking district, tents were set up. Lotsa hay, candies, treats, and of course, lotsa pumpkins! In all sizes!

It was actually a festive set up. Right in the middle of the whole event was a "decorate your pumpkin" shop. Adults and kids can grab as many pumpkins they want and put their creative minds to use.With a ton of different paints, ribbons, stickers and different accessories to decorate a pumpkin.

It was sooo cute seeing everyone just enjoying it! Too cute.

They even have sooo many treats to give away. Candies, pop corn and cotton candy too! Apples and pears. Yum!

I took 2, pint sized pumpkins for mi familia.

The rain didn't stop people from celebrating such a nice event. It was a nice break indeed. Relaxing, fun and sooo cute!

Free Custom Made Thomas Pink, Anyone?!?

Last Thursday in MY NEW YORK, we got spoiled and had a fantastic spring/summer like weather....It was just awesome!

Best, it was on my day off too! So I planned to be out and around and made sure I get to enjoy it since it is gonna be a looong while until it gets nice and warm again.

Was headed to some warehouse sale in the city. While reading the paper in the subway, I discovered about this new tv series on the USA channel called White Collar. And they were doing some publicity/ gimmick that collaborated with British brand name: Thomas Pink.

Thomas Pink is a well known brand name that sells mostly moderate to expensive shirts that caters for both genders.

USA channel and Thomas Pink were giving away "Gratis" custom made white shirt to celebrate the launching of the new show.

So I decided to stop by Rockefeller Center courtyard and see what is up!

Good golly when I got there around 1:30 pm, the line was already snaking around the Rockefeller courtyard, but organized.

I decided to fall in line. With a fantastic weather to enjoy it outdoors and with a complimentary Thomas Pink shirt, why not?

I even heard some people mentioned on how most of the people who came on the first day were bloggers and fashionistas. True in fact. A girl actually asked me if she can take a picture of me for her blog coz she liked what I wore that day.

Tho it was just a simple ensem: AA black harem pants, silver Dior Homme sneakers, black Dior blazer and this black top with sparkly silver beads. I was sorta shimmering under the sun. Hahaha. Of course I had my big Dior sunnies and my Louis bag.

It took me forever to have my turn to be measured but I managed. It wasn't as tough as I imagined it would be. With a lot of patience, firm legs and good music playlists in ipod, it was a breeze.

When it was my turn, they started to measure me up and asked to choose from a few sample fabrics, cuffed or not and that whole 9 yards. I was prolly in and out in 10 minutes. Maybe 12 minutes, tops!

How long did I stand in line for? Long.

I did manage to see the pilot episode this past Friday and I sorta liked it. Matt Bomer is kinda cool. But not just that, the show is kinda entertaining, Easy and no frills kinda show.

Watch it! USA channel, Fridays @ 10 pm.

As for my custom made shirt, I am now waiting for FedEx to deliver it.

Wanna Go "Green"? Spray It!

I am sooo happy to introduce this new "green" product which I just used while cleaning my bathroom.

And it smells really nice, fresh and clean.

Let us all try to slowly but surely shift into "green" initiatives and start dumping those chemical infused cleaning materials.

"Good For You, Good For The Earth"

Let's do our part in saving Mother Earth. It is for our own benefit.

Trust me, Al Gore will be proud of you!
